Case study – story on NSW Circular Director’s push for circular solutions

Sep 6, 2019

Sky News Australia visited UNSW Professor Veena Sahajwalla, Director of NSW Circular, to talk about how we need to think about circular economy solutions, and how unwanted materials and so-called waste can be repurposed for new use. This feature story by Sky News also discusses the key drivers for continuing the revival of manufacturing in Australia.

The story also highlights that collaboration, skills and funding are key considerations, as highlighted in a recent report by St George Bank in collaboration with Veena. SMaRT Centre’s collaboration with JAR Aerospace, in the space of Recycled 3D printing filaments, was highlighted as a case study of how waste items being repurposed into new manufacturing feedstock can bring economic and environmental benefits.
